The Herm Sprenger Black Stainless Steel Prong collar is one of the most recognizable and popular names in obedience training tools. A safe and effective alternative to choker collars, it puts even pressure around the neck, about every half inch, pinching the skin in a band. This collar does not apply direct pressure to the trachea, so you can train your dog with little or no tugging, jerking, or pulling. The addition of a center plate connector allows the middle link to be configured symmetrically, enabling the prongs to tighten in the same direction. Made of high quality German Black stainless steel, the size of this collar can be adjusted by adding or removing the links individually. The comfort version with ring and swivel offers highest flexibility between dog collar and leash due to the swivel.
Features:
- Interlocking links, each link equipped with two blunt prongs
- Slips over dog's head for easy on, easy off
- Slightly beveled prong tips
- Easy to increase or decrease in size
- Made of high quality Black stainless steel
- Additional links sold separately
- 1 ring and 1 swivel, with ClicLock closure (stainless steel)
- Stainless steel black
This collar is made of black stainless steel. Each collar made of this material has a high-gloss surface. But it is not all. Black stainless steel is the same composition of iron, chromium, silicon, nickel and carbon that make up traditional stainless steel products. The collar will not rust even in conditions of seawater or high humidity. Also it has a protective coating of polymer that creates a black finish. Black stainless steel is as durable as classic stainless steel, but features a richer, deeper colored finish.
This black stainless steel collar is suitable for dogs with dark fur and those canines who are not reactive to nickel. The collars made of black stainless steel are not recommended for dogs with light coat, as because of normal abrasion processes they may color fur.
All Herm Sprenger pinch collars come in a standard length which is adjusted to fit the neck of the dog by removing or adding links.
Sizing instructions: collar should fit snuggly just below the dog's ears, measure the circumference of dog's neck and add 2".
Available sizes:
- 2.25 mm x 16" (41 cm)
- 3.2 mm x 23" (58 cm)
- 4 mm x 24in (60cm)
Herm Sprenger collars and links are made in metric measurements, then converted to inches approximation for the U.S. market.

Basically, the prong collar is a special training aid that must be handled by experts only. A prong collar is always just an aid in dog training and never replaces a well-founded and professional training. Therefore, we ask you to seek advice in specialized shops when choosing the right prong collar and to be supported by an experienced trainer as well as to visit a competent dog school.
